Hi
you're looking for something in Basel-Land?

The canton of Basel in a few words

Basel land

Basel is one of the eldest Swiss cantons, it became member of the confederation in 1501 before it split into two different cantons in 1833: Basel-Stadt and Basel-Land.

The quarel about this split, which were based on the differences and rebellions of the rural population against the dominance of the urban aristocracy, is still existing. The last attempt of building again one canton, which came from the city area, was in 2014.

Basel-Land

Cherry blossoms

Being both neighbor of France and Germany, Basel-Land and its area called "Regio Basiliensis" is one of the closest and most dynamic cooperation in Europe.

The emblem of the canton shows a slightly bowed red crook (to delimit the city). It aims to clarify the split of its sister canton as well as its independence. Basel-Land is a popular travel destination, especially because of its cherry blossomed trees in spring, its hiking trails in the Alps of Jura and the Wasserfallenbahn cable car.
